Two out of every ten Australians will experience snoring during their lifetime. Snoring usually causes no significant medical problem; however, for many people it can indicate a serious underlying medical condition called Obstructive Sleep Apnoea.

What is Obstructive Sleep Apnoea?
The most advanced symptom of snoring is called Obstructive Sleep Apnoea or OSA. OSA is an interruption of breathing during sleep caused by the tongue and/or excessive tissue completely blocking the airway. When breathing stops, air is prevented from entering the lungs, causing the heart to work harder to circulate blood throughout the body.

Treatment with Oral Appliances
The treatment of snoring or Obstructive Sleep Apnoea with an oral appliance is safe, painless and effective. This treatment does not involve surgery.

Worn during sleep the Oral appliance will hold the lower jaw slightly forward and bringing the tongue with it. This prevents the tissues at the back of the throat from collapsing back in the airway. Oral Appliances have helped many people who snore or have Obstructive Sleep Apnoea.
